Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski has reappointed Ronald A. Brisé, Chairman of the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC), to serve on the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) Board of Directors. USAC is the administrator of the federal universal service programs and universal service fund (USF) under FCC oversight.
“In today’s increasingly global and competitive world, I am keenly aware of the crucial role telecommunications plays in rural health care programs and in helping schools and libraries stay connected,” said PSC Chairman Brisé. “I look forward to representing my fellow state telecommunications regulators on the USAC Board as we continue providing communities across the country with access to affordable telecommunications services.”
PSC Chairman Brisé was nominated by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners to fill the state telecommunications regulator Board position. USAC has a 19-member Board of Directors consisting of representatives from the telecommunications and information services industry, state telecommunications regulators, state consumer advocates, low-income consumers, the education and library community, and the USAC Chief Executive Officer. Terms are staggered, and the FCC sought nominations for thirteen seats with expired terms or vacancies.
