2-1-1 Big Bend Recognized as PSC Helping Hand for July

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) today recognized 2-1-1 Big Bend for being a PSC Helping Hand.  Partnerships are essential to raise public awareness, and the Commission appreciates 2-1-1 Big Bend’s assistance in sharing PSC consumer information on utility issues, energy and water conservation, and the Lifeline Assistance (Lifeline) telephone discount program.

“2-1-1 Big Bend provides invaluable support to residents seeking information on community services. Through 2-1-1 counselors, PSC consumer outreach materials help residents looking for utility bill assistance or ways to lower their monthly utility bills,” said PSC Chairman Ronald A. Brisé.  “I am pleased to name 2-1-1 Big Bend and its President, Randy Nicklaus, as the PSC’s Helping Hand for July.”

During two PSC workshops held last year with state agencies and social service representatives from across Florida, the Commission helped organizations connect to share resources and more effectively serve their clientele.  To continue the workshops’ success and recognize positive working relationships, each month this year the PSC will acknowledge a partner--a PSC Helping Hand--who has assisted the PSC’s outreach efforts.

“We are honored to be recognized as a PSC Helping Hand,” said Nicklaus. “2-1-1 Big Bend appreciates the PSC’s outreach materials to help Florida consumers who want to learn energy and water conservation practices or, if eligible, apply for the Lifeline program to better manage their utility bills.  One of the most common calls we receive is related to people having difficulty paying their utility bills.”

Nicklaus added, “2-1-1 Big Bend is available 24/7 as a first point of contact to help consumers navigate through the maze of community services in the Big Bend area.”
