Sadkin Senior Center Named April PSC Helping Hand

TALLAHASSEE — Continuing to highlight partners who help the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) raise public awareness about the Lifeline Assistance program and energy and water conservation, this month the Commission recognizes the Sadkin Senior Center in Lauderhill as a PSC Helping Hand.

“The Sadkin Senior Center and its Coordinator, Terri Johnson, are wonderful partners by regularly inviting us to meet with and assist Center seniors on ways to lower their utility bills and apply for Lifeline Assistance, if they’re eligible,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham.  “I also want to commend the Center for encouraging area seniors not to stay ‘home alone’ but actively participate in Center programs to learn about the myriad of services available to them.”

Begun last year, each month the PSC highlights a partner agency or organization whose clients are eligible for the federal Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program and/or need help curbing energy and water bills. Through these PSC Helping Hands partnerships, the Commission shares vital information to help consumers stretch their pocketbooks and meet their monthly bills.

“We are pleased to be named a PSC Helping Hand,” said Ms. Johnson. “The PSC has ensured that our seniors continue to receive helpful information they can use every day to impact their budgets and make a difference in their overall quality of life. Lifeline helps seniors stay connected to friends, family, and community services, all very important to seniors.”
