South Florida’s Alliance for Aging Named PSC Helping Hand

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is recognizing The Alliance for Aging, Inc. (the Alliance) for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties as a PSC Helping Hand for helping raise public awareness about the Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program, energy and water conservation, and utility impersonation scams.

“We appreciate the Alliance’s assistance in hosting PSC events where we can share information to educate and protect their clientele,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “Director Maria Scotto partners with us regularly to help distribute our Lifeline, scam protection, and conservation materials to those seniors who can most benefit from the information.”

Begun in 2013, each month the PSC highlights a partner agency or organization whose clients are eligible for the federal Lifeline program and/or need help reducing energy and water bills. Through these PSC Helping Hand partnerships, the Commission shares vital information to help consumers stretch their resources to meet their monthly bills.

“We are pleased and honored to be recognized as a PSC Helping Hand,” said Ms. Scotto. “The Alliance works diligently for area seniors and their caregivers, and we appreciate the PSC’s outreach visits to help our clients save money in their everyday lives.”
