TALLAHASSEE —
The staff of the Florida
Public Service Commission (PSC or Commission) will conduct two customer
meetings on Wednesday, July 7 and Thursday, July 8, 2004 to accept comments from consumers about a proposed rate
increase submitted by Florida Public Utilities Company (FPUC or utility). In
addition, these meetings will provide the utility’s customers with an opportunity
to comment about service quality issues relevant to FPUC.
FPUC provides natural gas service to more than 48,000 customers in Volusia,
Seminole, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.
The PSC is scheduled to vote on FPUC’s proposed interim revenue increase of
$1,490,980 on July 6, 2004. In addition,
FPUC is requesting a permanent revenue increase of $8,186,989 on an annual
basis.
While the proposed increase to residential customers will vary based on therm
usage, a residential customer using an average of 20 therms per month would pay
an additional $3.83 per month under the proposed rates. A residential customer
in the New Smyrna Beach District who uses 20 therms per month would only pay an
additional $0.20 per month.
