TALLAHASSEE —
The staff of the Florida Public Service
Commission (PSC or Commission) will conduct two customer hearings on Wednesday,
August 11, 2004 in response to applications filed by
L.P. Utilities Corporation (L.P. Utilities) that address the following three
issues: (1) a transfer of The Woodlands of Lake Placid, L.P.’s (Woodlands)
utility facilities to L.P. Utilities; (2) a transfer of the L.P. Utilities
wastewater system to the Camp Florida Property Owners Association, Inc. (Camp
Florida) and cancellation of Certificate No. 533-S; and (3) a transfer of
majority organizational control of the L.P. Utilities water system to Camp
Florida. These customer hearings will provide an opportunity for consumers and
other interested parties to offer comments regarding the proposed transfers,
Woodlands’ quality of service, and other issues relevant to this case.
Woodlands is located approximately four miles south of Lake Placid on the east side of US Hwy 27. This
utility provides water and wastewater service in Highlands
County to 338 residential customers and two
general service customers in the Lake Placid Camp Florida Resort (Resort).
Woodlands also provides water service to 38 residential customers and four
general service customers located outside the Resort.
The
customer hearings will be held at the following times and location:
Wednesday, August 11, 2004
10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Sebring Civic Center
355 West Center Avenue
Sebring, Florida
These customer hearings are part of a
full administrative hearing that also includes a technical hearing on the
issues relevant to the case. The technical portion of the administrative
hearing is also scheduled to take place in Sebring on August 11-12, 2004. PSC staff is currently scheduled to make a recommendation to
the Commission on October 7,
2004, and the Commission
consideration and vote on this matter is currently scheduled for October 19, 2004.
