TALLAHASSEE — Florida Public Service Commissioner Matthew M. Carter II will encourage young people to conserve water in observance of National Drinking Water Week May 6-12, 2007. Commissioner Carter will speak to students at Tallahassee’s Bond Elementary School following a production of the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) play Water Wiser. The play teaches schoolchildren about the Floridan aquifer and preserving the water supply.

“Maintaining an adequate supply of clean water is one of the most critical issues in our state today,” said Commissioner Carter.  “By teaching Florida’s children about the importance of water conservation now, we are encouraging them to preserve this precious resource for years to come.”

Students from the Young Actors Theater will be featured in the production.

Joining Commissioner Carter on May 9th will be Superintendent of Leon County Schools Jackie Pons and Leon County School Board Chair Maggie Lewis-Butler.
