FPSC Partners with Libraries Statewide to Assist Floridians

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is partnering with the best consumer resource in the state, 280 public libraries, to offer residents easy access to information about energy and water conservation and saving money on utility bills.

“We appreciate the librarians across the state who are assisting us in our effort to share information with residents about the PSC and how we can assist them with their utility questions,” said PSC Chairman Matthew M. Carter II.  “Library patrons will benefit from this free information.”

Since 2004, the PSC has partnered with Florida’s libraries in its ongoing library outreach program that has received favorable feedback from participants. During September, the PSC distributed nearly 87,000 brochures, including versions in Spanish and Creole, to libraries statewide.  Libraries can order additional material from the PSC as needed.

Brochures can be easily downloaded and printed from the PSC Web site:  Publications/ConsumerBrochures.  Interested individuals can also order brochures online or by calling the PSC toll-free information line at 1-800-342-3552.

The PSC is committed to making sure that Florida's consumers receive their electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater services in a safe, affordable, and reliable manner. The PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in the areas of rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring safety, reliability, and service.
