TALLAHASSEE —
In a non-binding recommendation filed Thursday, the Commission’s staff
recommends reducing the amount the company will recover from ratepayers from
$533 million to $441.9 million. The staff recommendation outlines reductions
in payroll costs, vehicle and tree trimming expenses and advertising.
Florida Power & Light filed a petition in 2004 seeking recovery for
the costs it contends it incurred from hurricanes Charley, Frances and
Jeanne. The Commission conducted six hearings in April to provide the company’s
customers with an opportunity to comment on the utility’s petition, followed by
three days of technical hearings in Tallahassee.
The PSC staff recommendation will be considered by the Commission at its
regularly scheduled Agenda Conference meeting July 19, during which it may
accept, reject or modify the recommendation.
