PSC To Hold Customer Hearing on Aloha Settlement Offer

TALLAHASSEE — Customers of Aloha Utilities, Inc. will have an opportunity to comment on a settlement offer proposed by the company to resolve service quality issues.

The company proposed a settlement July 21, 2005, to resolve all outstanding matters between Aloha and the Commission.

The customer meeting will begin at noon August 15, 2005, at the West Pasco Government Center.  The Commission will defer a vote on the proposed settlement offer, currently scheduled for the August 2, 2005, Agenda Conference, until August 17 in order to accommodate customer comment on the settlement proposal.

“By holding a public meeting in Aloha’s territory, the Commission will be able to make a fully informed decision on the merits of accepting or rejecting the offer of settlement,” Commission Chairman Braulio Baez said.  “The settlement has the potential to direct the parties’ resources away from litigation and to focus on finding a cost-effective, scientific and technical solution to Aloha’s water quality  problems.”

The meeting will be held at the following time and location:

August 15, 2005
West Pasco Government Center
County Commission Board Room
Suite 160
7530 Little Road
New Port
Richey, Florida
