Lifeline Awareness Week in Fort Lauderdale

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) will join telecommunications companies in hosting an information session for local residents to learn about Link-Up Florida and Lifeline Assistance telephone programs.  The event is on Friday, September 17 in Fort Lauderdale.

The south Florida event is one of several gatherings across the state to observe “National Lifeline Awareness Week,” September 13-19, which aims to raise awareness and increase participation in the discounted telephone programs.  Representatives will be available to sign up qualified residents for the programs.

Residents will learn how to save money on telephone bills, how to qualify for a free cell phone with monthly minutes, how to obtain a phone for the deaf and hard of hearing, and what services are offered for the vision impaired.

The event will be held at the following time and location:

Friday, September 17, 2010
10 a.m.—3 p.m.
Senior Volunteer Services
4701 NW 33rd Avenue
