Isilio Arriaga Sworn in as New PSC Commissioner

TALLAHASSEE — Isilio Arriaga was sworn in on Tuesday to the five-member Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) which regulates the state’s investor-owned electric, gas, water, wastewater, and telecommunications companies.

Commissioner Arriaga will serve a partial term on the Commission ending January 1, 2007, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Chuck Davidson.  Arriaga was most recently an Independent Management Consultant for Ferrell Schultz Consulting, Inc. He served on the Board of Directors of the Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce as well as the Council of the Bi-National Chambers of America (CBCA), and is a trustee member and former president of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.  Arriaga served as a Congressman in the Republic of Venezuela from 1988 until 1993, where he co-sponsored the first Privatization Law in the nation. As an International Consultant, Arriaga was a strong advocate of the promotion of U.S. enterprises in Latin America.

Arriaga, 57, received a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from New York University and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Pratt Institute (NY).
