TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved a stipulated agreement by Progress Energy Florida, Inc. (PEF), the Office of Public Counsel, and other intervenors in the current Nuclear Cost Recovery Clause (NCRC) hearing that will save customers $500,000.

In the approved stipulation, PEF will permanently forgo collection of $500,000 in Project Management Costs to resolve the outstanding issue of whether the company prudently managed its Crystal River Unit 3 Uprate license amendment request.  The Commission also approved the stipulation of PEF’s 2009 and 2010 prudently incurred costs for the Crystal River Unit 3 Uprate project.

Evidence and testimony on proposed recovery costs for PEF’s Levy County Nuclear Plant construction project are being reviewed at today’s continuation of the NCRC hearing.  A PSC decision is expected on October 24.
