PSC Boosts Consumer Awareness During National Consumer Protection Week

TALLAHASSEE — At PSC events in Fort Walton Beach, Jacksonville, and Tampa, seniors learned how to save money through energy and water conservation and how to sign up for the Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program, if they qualify.  Many seniors on fixed incomes need to lower their utility bills to help conserve their other resources.
In Tallahassee, the PSC’s Super Tuesday Consumer Forum on March 6 brought more than 15 consumer groups and state agencies together to share the wealth of informational materials and programs available that can assist their clients. State agencies learned to better understand the needs of Florida’s consumer agencies and find ways to raise consumer awareness.
PSC Chairman Ronald A. Brisé, who led the event, said, “The goal of the Super Tuesday Consumer Forum was to share some effective ways to reach Floridians with important information. We can help both Florida residents and visitors make wise spending choices, avoid scams, and conserve water and energy to help lower their utility bills.”
