TALLAHASSEE —
The Florida Public Service Commission has
taken action to terminate an employee for improper communications with a party
to a pending docket.
After Commissioners received an anonymous e-mail regarding the merits of a pending docketed matter, the
agency’s Inspector General promptly launched an internal investigation into the
source of the communication.
The internal investigation identified
Commission employee Doris Moss as the source of the e-mail to Commissioners.
The investigation also uncovered clear and convincing evidence that Moss, using
an agency computer, had sent improper e-mails to a party to the docket, a
violation of Commission rules.
On February 9, the day the investigation was completed, the Commission took immediate action to terminate
Moss.
